Ceramics are the general term for pottery and porcelain. Traditionally, ceramics refer to all artificial industrial products made of inorganic nonmetallic minerals such as clay. It includes various products made of clay or mixture containing clay through mixing, shaping and calcining. The roughest earthenware and the finest fine pottery and porcelain are all ceramics. The main raw materials of ceramics are silicate minerals (such as clay, feldspar, quartz) from nature, so they are classified as “silicate industry” together with industries such as glass, cement, enamel and refractory materials.
